J'accuse

Contributed by spud on Wednesday, 23rd July 2014 @ 08:47:11 AM in AEST
Topic: AmericanTragedy

Pause a while, and think upon the shameless
who cast those shattered bodies to the void;
and pause anew, for the innocent and the blameless
whom fire and vengeful savagery destroyed.

Where is the father whose hand can halt the slaughter?
Where is the mother whose heart can win the peace?
How many slayings of lover, son, and daughter
before the bloodlust's slaked, and all the horrors cease?

Yet, there are scenes where fury has no station,
and there they'll rise - the vanquished and the just;
where death's unknown and dogs-of-war are chastened
their baneful thoughts of conquest, pulverized to dust.

The atrocities of this occurrence or any like them seems incomprehensible to me, so it made it difficult to come up with any words. I really think I still have none even though I can see them typing across the screen.

I don't think people that can commit such horrific acts will ever disappear. Is sad indeed.

A powerful poem, my friend, very powerful.

Tim

So many people become victims in a war they didn't choose and have no control over.
Time and time again the few try to twist minds to their evil ideals.
There may never be an end to wars but we should always hope.
Powerful piece

Steve
