This Day....This Day

Contributed by invierno on Tuesday, 8th July 2014 @ 07:45:52 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

This day....my squeaking lids pry upon fleeing dreamed eyes,
half in complaint- yet they creak and comply-
dawn muttering on pupils while my feet from eyes far,
search unbidden for floor quite beyond my command-
for if up to me, they still would be
in sheeted wrap stretched to my sleepy demand.
Yet they follow the sun; in tandem both rise
whilst blinking suns far are fetched and subdued
by our own little star
in our own little sky.
Yes...this day began, now it's evening I see
that I'm aught but a vassal to primal demand,
a slave to forces quite beyond me,
ants climb and birds fly storks one legged stand...
My irises focus, take in the room...
Dawning sun slowly to darkness be starved,
A query from mind to my soul it escapes,
“And how shall I face yet a new day?”
Shall I charge into challenge, Pamplona red scarved?
With bulls stomping, throwing sweat all about-
breathing and snorting to tear me apart?
Oh this life, this day, this state of awake...
My nostrils flaring to bulls at my heels,
I run and tear, I love, I scare, I feel..this day, this day, again, is so real.
This day...unique as my green lawn twixt neighbors green lawns,
Our sun repeating it all with every new dawn.

by our own little star
in our own little sky.

ants climb and birds fly storks one legged stand...
