Tear Not the Child's Heart

Contributed by invierno on Tuesday, 1st July 2014 @ 12:58:51 PM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

Tear not the heart that longs,
stripping away, for shame, the night
to new and dewy dawn...
keep in me that child still,
pray I retain unspoiled thrills-
may my chest leap at the flight of sparrows,
my smile wide in spite of narrows;
the stuff of this adulthood I,
may my inner child always cry in joy
to hold to keep to not let go-
may all things ever wondrous be
as this grown man I am about life goes.

This reminds me of one of the anthems I wrote a few years ago:

"Pierce pride with words of humbleness
Drive apathy from rebels
Give wisdom to the child that asks
Grant slaves their resolution. . ."

From O'le Write of the Ages

Your poem sparks creativity and thoughtfulness as poetry should.

Hello Bud

I'm so happy I took the time to come read a bit again. Things have been very hectic lately. This poem is so true. As a christian we are taught that what we believe or fear will cross our path. What we speak will come to pass. We were all kids and had the wildest fantasies and dreams. If we as grown ups can maintain that child like faith in life and good then we will be just fine. There won't be reason to pine. All our days will be happy and gay. And we will only have kind words to say. Brilliant write my friend it maid me smile and my heart laugh again. Thank you

Greetings
Rus
