Didn't Want To Say Goodbye

Contributed by Angelgirl365 on Sunday, 22nd June 2014 @ 10:44:36 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Didn’t Want To Say Goodbye
At 15 she had her first overdose
but the world didn’t want to say goodbye
so she stayed to see another day

at 16 she had her second overdose
but her mom didn’t want to say goodbye
so she stayed to see another day

at 17 she had her third overdose
but the world didn’t want to say goodbye
so she stayed to see another day

at 18 she finally realized her life was of value
and started living the life she fought so hard to end
never wanting to say goodbye

I love the ending - the idea that in the end, after all, there is something worth living for.

It's so sad to think that so many people in the world only feel pain, despair, hunger and so many other means of suffering I cannot even imagine - perhaps leading some to suicide.

I guess, the poem reminded me of our vulnerability as humans, our need for second chances, and how important it is to help one another find the hope which lets us see the priceless value of our lives.

It's always worth fighting for. Nothing is as strong as gentleness. Nothing is as gentle as true strength.
