The children of Darfur

Contributed by Boomking on Saturday, 14th June 2014 @ 02:28:41 PM in AEST
Topic: AmericanTragedy

We watch the many children of Darfur,
in their hour of need.
Do our hearts not bleed?
nobody's calling we want more...

Still what action do we take,
guess we all got our take on this.
Maybe it's to far away,
maybe that picture just won't stay....

But it will only change,
if we no longer feel estranged.
Let it hit you,
cause there's only one humanity....

And if we do not act or care,
there will be the moment of truth or dare.
Somebody might be asking,
where did you stand in this,
is your own wellbeing the bigger fish?

Howmany children does it take,
for you to say for gods sake?
Have they not touched your heart,
as if they where your own?

Or is it all gone down the drain,
making it all seem invain?
You know Somebody might ask you,
where did you stand in this?

Was your own wellbeing the bigger fish,
leaving them way down on your list?
Then what will it have mattered,
that somany hearts where shattered?

Could you not at least pick up one piece,
and help put it back together again?
Making humanity strong again,
one heart at the time....

How do you choose to be remembered,
what fish did you fry?
As the children of Darfur are passing by,
what will be your take for their sake?

we must relate. This is a perfect topic, well thought and written.
Not blame but shame we must feel, and then be responsible. Action comes from dialogue --- understanding of the region and what can be done, but not for greed. What more purpose does one need to any life.

Thanks for this writing!

Peace!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
