Fumbling through a drawer of crap, on a mission for a match;
Lantern, where are you tonight? Where I left you at first light.
And that light switch on the wall? One flick and I could see it all.
But fun? Oh, where's the fun in that? Come on! Where's that match!
Blending of soft light to dark, so preferred to tungsten's spark of stark.
There's no magic in a filament, no room for dreams or where they went.
Kerosene makes way for dreams, spluttered light in droves and reams.
In the place betwixt lights hold and yield, I dance in reminiscing fields
Made room for me by kerosene and wick, not granted by a flicking switch.
The search is on for catalyst of sulfur kerosene and wick.
I'll find them, (found!) whoosh! To my dreams and quick!

Great write about a simple thing such as a match and candle. Dreams are better by candle light cool.
Greetings

my favorite line (and this was not easy to pick) "Blending of soft light to dark, so preferred to tungstens spark" "sputtered light in droves and reams"…No one ever sat with a glass of wine and stared at a lightbulb! (Akin to ordering lobster with drawn margarine)!
Your well executed and entertaining point is as subtle as thunder; "Betwix lights hold and yield"
where function is held at bay by imagination!
Bravo! I love this! You need not ask where the fun is---I just read it!
