Five Very Different Brothers....

02:06:2014....

Five very different brothers.
Three equally different fathers.
Had the same mother though.
If you look at us it doesn't show.
Last saw each other more than ten years ago.
Will there ever be peace I don't know?
So what caused this divide money?
You'd swear we are unique ain't that funny.
I'm going to try to unite us again.
Will they ever see pass the hurt and pain?

I can recall yes only once.
We five and a dad stood as one.
The year was Nineteen Eighty Seven.
We stood against all eleven.
Toe to toe knocking them out.
Sad to think the only time was in a bout.
Actually thinking back it's hilarious.
Suddenly cops every where serious.
My dad said yes officer.
Still standing ready like a boxer.
I still remember he was a sargent.
Oh yes this all happened in a beer garden.

Well back to us boys.
Who tossed away our toys.
Even as youngsters.
We treated each other as gangsters.
However not on the same side.
Hurling comments oh so snide.
If we could I swear we would pull a knife.
Jap that was our kinda life.
Now looking at this I don't think money is our problem.
Any reason for a fight to blossom.
Well let's hope one can fix this mess.
If I can I pray we won't regress.

There's so much to this poem, Russell. I think it's the best one from you thus far, in my humble opinion.

It captures, with perfection, the turmoils of siblings, and also the regret and sorrow of relationships lost and the fact that the time lost cannot be retrieved.

In the short time I've known you (as much as we can know each other...you in S. Africa and me in the belly of the beast, USA), I have been touched by your sharing and commitment and the wise, sensible and true spiritual being that you are. I appreciate your sharing as you've made this site a pleasure (among others of course) to visit and contribute to.

I wish you the very best in your reunification efforts.

Best,

Invierno

All the best in your quest to unite your family. The competition between 5 boys, each trying to establish their position, must have been immense. Thanks for sharing. No pleasure is gained from your problems, but I enjoyed the read as a personal story.
Good luck.
