.
I tried some poetry tonight.
To ease in my head this raging fight.
It usually brings the calm.
Like some magic balm.
However not this time round.
Calmness I've yet to find.
My heart is heavy and sad.
What transpired makes me so mad.
A dear friend lost her child.
In a violent scene so wild.
Ten years old not even in his prime.
He could have been a doctor lawyer or even a mime.
We sit in a ball and cry.
Shout out my God Why?
We will never know.
And the pain will always show.
For the loss of the beautiful boy.
Who will never play with a toy.
Never come running with a smile.
That thought eats at me like bile.
His mother torn and broken.
Wolf like people out spoken.
There words hurtful and harmful.
As if her loss isn't already a bitter pill.
Herself still in agony and pain.
In her mind its herself she blames.
Why can't life be a fairy tail.
Why must it be so fragile and frail.

I can't even imagine a child dying before the parent and how the parent deals with it. So sad! :( So sorry for her loss.

Bummer in extremis, Russell. Very sorry for her loss and more so for the boy's loss.
Poetry is indeed a 'magic balm'....if you take poetry and time, mingle them together, then even more magic happens and sometimes even the worst circumstances can be lessened in severity. (But, I know you aware of this, of course).
I'm sorry for your pain, Russell.

My condolences to you & your friend. I once lost a friend & someone told me that time heals all hurts.
It won't heal all hurts, but friends always help. Sticking together will help ease the pain.
Great write.

In some situations, poetry is not so much a magic balm, more of a sedative that stems the suffering just enough to get by.
My cousin's life was taken away when she was just 19, before that she had such a difficult childhood with illness that it was barely one at all.
Her parents never got over her untimely death, it became their millstone.
I can appreciate your pain and sadness.
