Death Gets a Bad Rap

Contributed by JackM on Tuesday, 27th May 2014 @ 11:59:54 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Has anyone been maligned more than Death?
Just ask him, after you’ve savored your last breath,

The Reaper will relate for you, the ages old burden he bears,
How he’s hated, scorned, and the worst of your fears,

But his charm excludes no one, even if you dare,
Can anyone not claim, he’s nothing, if not fair?

The Moon is moved not, by the trade he must ply,
But underneath the Lunar’s gaze, we do nothing but cry,

Day after day, meal after meal,
We go on with our lives, like he’s not part of the deal,

When he eyes us, we do our best Claude Rains,
We are Shocked! Shocked! That he is calling our names,

My favorite question has always been, why? why? why?
Why Mr. Moon, why must I die?

Here I will end this awful rebut to the lie,
But may I just say, I kinda like that guy?

thoughts flow over the page, personally i don't

too many times,

very creative, evocative and witty. Love the line, "But his charm excludes no one, even if you dare,
Can anyone not claim, he’s nothing, if not fair?"

Awesome!

Best,

Invierno
