Tragedy and Turmoil of a Pained Heart

Contributed by tundrahydra on Thursday, 1st May 2014 @ 06:36:57 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I thought that I had hit rock bottom
But rock can be blown up, guess I had forgotten
Still falling down the white rabbit hole
Certain after this fire I will be burned to coal
Nothing but ash in place of where I once stood
I've tried so hard, done everything I could
Yet the vicious cycle keeps knocking me down
I once wore a smile now a permanent frown
Hardly a good day comes my way
Life flips me the bird or so it seems that way
I was taught long ago not to surrender the fight
Now I struggle to stand and survive the night
I have an angel by my side
Although its hard to see when I'm choking on my pride
She tries to guide me and lift me up
Even when I drink deeply from this poisoned cup
Anything to take the nightmares away
I fear being lucid more than I can say
What's to become of what I've become
I don't even know but I know I've darkened some
Bleak blurs across a broken heart
Strained and torn till its broke apart
Strapped together with pain and glued with spite
I understand that I'm wrong but I'm tired of being right
Someone prove my words false and show my mistake
Cause being beaten down yet correct is more than I can take
Will peace ever come for me and take me from here
I'm not sure, check back in a year
