Two rocks conversed at the head of a river.
One, smooth and shiny, oval and balanced,
exclaimed to his neighbour,
“Why are you crusty, covered in seaweed and
now firmly anchored in the bed? How could
you come to the pass where motion has fled,
now thickly rooted in mass?”
Through algae eyebrows, heavy with tire,
gravel in his reply,
“I did not listen when other rocks told me
best to roll with the stream- I listened
to land, not having to roll, I stayed here for the ease”.
“Ah”, I see, said the smoother of two,
“You failed to heed the signs,
You bought a lie, and here you lay
to late to deep to climb.
Sad for you, perhaps shake it off?
Maybe freedom is yet to be?”
“I don't have time”, replied hoary stone,
“The river rises at three.”

A splendid and fun reminder not to opt for the easy way out! "you bought a lie, and here you lay"..
Tho you hint at a solution, you do not venture to tell your readers how to tell the lie from the truth..Perhaps another time?
I prefer to believe that you mark us clever enough to find out own answers, and that is the gift of your write..you give us a course, but you don't stay it with us!
A riddle of a poem..a crossword to demystify!
Thank you for pushing out boats into the stream!

First a little note, use Too instead of To,
you can always tell a good poet by his gentle
verse and story, this makes one think
of one passed off by the others in the past,
but still a conveyor of the totally true present mind that is now.
Like the past we might jest, but do not really know because we weren't actually there.
That's what makes this so good BTW
warnings change like seasons do
time changes too
even before we can catch up with it sometimes.
This is a very well stated parable to the wise
erstwhile from the edge, as you say in your
intro.
It's really fantastic to happen upon a lot of your work, extremely creative.
Thanks!
Peace! |

changes, excellent and beautifully penned,
