Heroes never die

I stand here with tears in my eyes
The grass between my toes
Birds chirping over head
A head stone before me.
I can still hear your laughter
Your face is seen clearly.
I cry out "I thought heroes never died!"
The wind blows
I hear your voice.
You say "I am always with you.
That bird that you hear is me singing.
The grass you feel is me walking right with you.
The tears remind you of who I am.
The pain you feel is the memories you must carry on."
I stand here with tears in my eyes.
Peace in my heart.
And your memories to carry me thru each day.
