joe loved mable with all his heart,
always catered to her every whim,
from mable joe never wanted to part,
though mable was quite a churlish thing.
every evenings dinner, joe would lovingly cook,
he rubbed mable's shoulders; put salve on her foot,
he brushed her gray hair; but joe's most important job;
morning tea in her hand must early be; or joe was caput.
brewed to perfection everyday of their lives,
first thing crack of dawn, for joe's lovely wife,
not too hot not too cold; just the right amount of honey,
'cause mable meant more to joe then all the worlds money.
joe did not mind if she was callous or flip,
since forty years ago she'd once hurt her hip,
joe loved mable more than all chocolate donuts,
they were a match made in heaven; a perfect fit.
then one day mable called out, ''joe! Joe!! JOE!!!''
''where the Hell is my Tea?! are ya dead joe? i'm thirsty!
where are you? it's daybreak!'' no reply from the other room,
''joe? hello?!'' morning took on precarious gloom.
''well, now you've gone and made me mad,
you are the laziest man a woman ever had,
i'll get my own damn tea from now on you fool!''
feet stomped down the hall.
''well joe, you have up and died for sure,''
mable stated from the kitchen calmly stirring her spoon,
she peeked around the wall, police were dialed; coroner to come,
she sat and smiled; watching them all fuss in the other room.
hours went by; long day turned deep dark night,
people tippy toed around, not to give her a fright,
authorities finally approached her as she sat in her chair,
''we have some bad news mame,'' the coronor says,
''mr. joe died at half past am 5; he is no longer alive.''
she queried, ''and you tell me this now after all day i sat,
while he's poked and measured; you got a smoke from your hat,
i could have told you that hours ago had youse asked-
i knew when that son of a b didn't bring my tea glass!''

Awe, that was sort of sad. Cute funny yet tinges of sadness because they had to part.
Thank you for an enjoyable read.

A tale that was told in the most amusing, truthful and colorful way. I could see the whole story unfold with each line, and by the end, felt like I lived just down the street. It showed love in its most open form, and selfishness on its downside. I truly enjoyed this - you have an amazing sense of story, and a marvelous way with its words. Great, great write, P |

Haha. Wow! I think Mable wore the pants in that relationship ;) It sure sounds like ol' Joe was madly in love. The heart wants what it wants!
