Gods of the mind

Topic: oops

So be it.

A generation of leaders brought up on lead paint.
Lost in the madness of power, chocking on tales of rot.
Suffering the fate of the Romans, blind as their empire crumbles.
Dragging the people down, corruption fills the heart.

This time is no different than before.
Doing the dance of the mariot, puppets pulled by golden yarn.
Leaders holding onto the illusion of control.

The people slumber with one eye open.
Sitting asking the right questions while still waiting for another to have the answer.
Action misguided on deeds, idols lost on wormwood.
Drunken chants of not my problem spoken in a debt filled future.
Compassion a disease benign.

Once we walked in the shadows of gods.
Now we stumble in artificial light working on freeing the few.
Democracy a weapon of mass destruction forcing our views to the world.
Taking down individual rights for the collective.
Giving those already drunk more power to abuse.

Are we not the better the Shepard then playing the role of the sheep.
Letting the vampires run rampage after the weakest of spirit.
Chaining us in the falsehood of debt.
Born always owing our life to someone else, be it flag or man.

This time of uprising is due upon us before the almighty dollar takes a dive.
And the rats go down with the sinking ship.
We must take the plans of world orders and create a better contract.
Something that we all can agree.
For it is up to all of us to put those little differences aside, and work for the few who hold no voice.
United we can shake the world, leaving a trail of new found paths.
It has always been you that is chosen to save the world.
For each name of the university is written with greatness.
You only need to believe in yourself.
As I believe in you.

Well I can't begin to pretend as that I understand completely what all of this is about, but it is obvious that you are intelligent, have something to say, and are good at saying it with emotion. I will definitely read this again. Good write.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
