Creativity hangs in perfect balance between the next day and no more,
The subliminal walks of daily medication to soothe and restore vital connections
Are held in Hope,as survival of another mind's pure brilliance fades in the gasp
Of a shared milestone before eternal night.
And the brilliance emanates from heart resounding inspiration as words live on
And flesh falls away.
For the ink to dry and the soul to never raise voice is the slumber sought by torment,
As from the depths of human misunderstanding the earth gives forth a gift of recognition
From a final resting place, and those from a place of knowing,
Smile.

The lives lost from war are not lost in time but etched into our memories because of great writing. He has obviously inspired heart felt feelings in this one.
I could really feel this one.
You know I love your poetry but it seems this line would work better with the word to inserted:
For the ink to dry and the soul to never raise voice is the slumber sought by torment

I love when I can read a relatively short piece like this and can be impressed by vivid imagery, and juicy word play. I feel like you could open this up a bit more and add to it eventually, but it is quite enjoyable as is.
Keep it up!

Hi Anna,
I just had to read some of gurney's poems before making any comments.
I really got the sense of fear, courage, horror, and futility from his ww1 poems.
He wrote with passion, never losing that deep respect for his fellow man.
Your dedication does HIM justice, and you.
