I Visit In Peace

Contributed by waynster on Sunday, 30th March 2014 @ 10:01:23 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Visiting your grave
allowing my mixed emotions to flee
Not wanting to be sad or angry
even though you were mean to me

Somehow there was mutual resentment
between the both of us
Never truly understanding why
all we did was fight and fuss

It took me a while
but yet here I am
It must mean I loved you
and I must give a damn

I am really sorry
our minds were clouded with confusion and trouble
I visit you today
to find peace and get out of this bubble

I want to live
having good memories of you
To forget all of the problems we had
it is way over due

I give you these flowers
to make you smile as you watch from above
I do this for you in remembrance
and with a whole lot of love

Damn fine poem, Mr. Searles. Nice flow, with only a few hiccups. You may want to consider the flow of the words, how they roll off and into the next word...look at the ends of the stanzas with that flow in mind and alter to maintain the continuity of the piece.

I want to hold memories;
good ones and true,
To replace problems with smiles
When thinking of you.

Everything about this poem is beautiful. The main thing that makes this a stand out piece is your ability to humble yourself to admit things were not perfect but you want to make amends. That is a tough one, and I commend your honest efforts. Death leaves us with many unanswered questions at the best of times, and when it was a strained relationship the myriad of emotions is that much more complex.

Kudos to you for showing compassion, and I hope you find closure.
