My Goal

It's the invisible goal
I'm not reaching for
But following like a
Log in a river.
The star that I want
Is too far to measure
In light years;
The star that I want
Is darker than
Night without moon,
But brighter than
Sun without clouds.
Because the star's not there,
I turn to my invisible goal
That I'm not reaching for.
At least it's an ambition for something.

Sometimes it is better to travel hopefully
than to arrive. |

You're right. Thank you!
But a goal gives you the path to travel on, which I guess is my problem. (Hey...just a teenager in that teenage state of depression! :-) )
Which reminds me of this beautiful children's book I read an extremely long time ago, called Dogsong by Gary Paulsen. I can barely remember it, except for the vivid images and message it gave. It is about an eskimo who grows up facing the cold Arctic. Anyway, the moral I got from the book was that it was the journey you made and not the final result...the final result was death.
All I can remember was its dreamlike quality and how much it really affected me.
Thus...life is the journey not the finish line. Life is the road you take to achieve your goals, and after each goal you find another goal to continue the journey. |
