Preludes

Contributed by flavellm on Thursday, 20th March 2014 @ 03:52:50 AM in AEST
Topic: Event

Springs a tease. It wakes like a
fair maiden leaving her sleep
woven in dimples of taut linen.
It ebbs and moans in a creamy
gurgle of currents darting
to bank rushing trickles of hope.
It chuckles long in the bristle
and swish of dancing grass. It
hops and tumbles in rustling
skirts of bush. It stirs the root
that frenzies the birds mel-
odious quarrel.

Winter nights cascaded lawns
in brittle moonlight. Now the
thrusts of warmth in sun splin-
tered dawns slit life into
the frozen branches.
In the slippery thread
of moistening dew
limbs that will run wild
thaw by misty lakes
that in wrinkles and
creases, serenely
disdains all the recknynge
of our tossed summers.

Supine beneath swimming skies
lie lovers on hill slopes raising
trainers enmeshed with the grass
spears, their eyes use to score wisps
into the tenebrous blues of sky.
Hands linked leave unrun
banks for unkept bedrooms
flung with garments
drunk in corners
flavoured with the
scent of fields.

In the mad bloodshed of
a severed horizon
incapacitated, slow
in a frail collapse
the sun slips from it's
throne, yet not without
leaving it's bathed scene
mellowed in tender robes
and after the warbling
frontyard tributes, vows in
dusky doorstep smooches
the sweet light of tom-
orrows green dawn.

Springs the burgeoning lust
that sifts the leaky mist of
stern winters icy trophies
long silvered in the gleam
of the Suns marauding mirror
to long it's romped unchallenged
through winter nights birdless sky!
