It's a technologically superior jetliner
gone astray for days
on end
fervent countries
searching feverishly in its wake
Like rummaging
through years
of misplaced belongings
strewn across the vast oceans
Befuddlement unprecedented
A world hunts for answers
like that for the convoluted war
entrenched in religious dilemmas
Deserts of gore
devoid of even
a mirage of peace
The horizon is a billowing cloud
of black smoke screening
Wide eyed soundless screams
It's the suffocating atmosphere
in my bitty rented apartment
reeking like charred wreckage
from my smoking oven toaster
and a haze of pollution
from outside
a singed and smoky smell
imbues my clothes
as a weeping forest in Riau
is engulfed in flames
Goodbye enigmatic creatures
I've yet to make a connection with
as poverty asserts its pervasive tragedy
It's the pollution standard rising
Toxicity unprecented
It's not acing my dream job
at the get go
plummeting from a cloud of
presumptuousness
watching myself roll away
my voice lost in a vast ocean
Faint against rollicking waves
Vague and insignificant
like tumbleweed and driftwood
It's a bottle of my smoothest whiskey
Slipping off the top shelf
of my liquor lubricated mind
shattering slowly and lugubriously
almost still
but electrified
no peace in the doldrums
It's my once upon a time paradise
growing ungainly
beyond recognition
A pre pubescent teen
sprouting resorts
like a flare up of acne
only this doesn't seem curable
by a trip to a cool gloved dermatologist
Development unprecedented
It's wanting more glimpses
Of its ingenue charm
but rendered paralysed
by career incompetence
my edits being re-edited into oblivion
Immobile
like a burning log
fraying at its sad veins
fire to fine ashes
dispersed in a robust wind.
