Grab two whites-
(Hey! I hurt!), so
It's all right,
But! Don't mix them with a blue-
oil and water-
just won't do.
Those one's striped
white and green?
Two 'fore bed brings
deepest dreams.
Life's worries have you down?
Take a purple-
turn that frown into a smile,
(the dunce's grin)
those worries only deeper in
And all those problems, now unaware?
Guess what, popper,
They're all still there.
Gauze and band-aids help a scrape-
Keep it clean- it goes away
But not so for wounds of
heart and mind,
no cure so easy for these aches.
These little friends in milligrams
a short term fix, please understand.
The woes our heart, our minds do take
can't be cured by pills- they just don't make
a formula to fix inside
the hurts we carry- the hurts we hide.
The cure to aliments within
are found in us, inside our skin!
No magic pill can take away
sorrow, fear, the stress of days.
We came ready-built with all the tools,
outsourcing not required,
embracing pills, the acts of fools
for those to lazy, dumb or tired.

I like your passion for the cause, here. You are right, self medicating does not work or solve any problems. For addicts it in fact increases the problems tenfold. For "normies" it only prolongs the inevitable need to face those demons. I disagree however with what you wrote at the end, with regard to:
We came ready-built with all the tools,
outsourcing not required,
embracing pills, the acts of fools
for those to lazy, dumb or tired.
Let us not forget that a problem shared is a problem halved. Some burdens are too heavy to bear by oneself. It is also rather ignorant to state that embracing pills or any other form of self medicating is 'the act of fools, for those too lazy, dumb or tired.
In your author's note you alluded to the fact you were speaking from experience, but I beg to differ.
Keep up the writing.

Hello my friend. (And I do mean that...this is not antagonistic simply because my opinion differs. I VALUE your opinion and thank you for sharing it.) I Do speak from experience (most unfortunately), and that is precisely WHY I put that line in. I was, for many years, a little of all three- lazy dumb and tired...tired of fighting life. I also made it harsh (as opposed to softening the message out of consideration and political correctness) in the hope that (words being residual things on the subconscious) it might subliminally prevent someone from saying 'No" instead of "Yes" when considering pill popping.
I do get that there are people that need various forms of medication, but after having studied extensively on the history of psychotropic drugs (for that is what I'm referring to here..not recreational drugs) that there is no problem as bad as their alleged 'cure' or 'fix'. When one begins taking benzo's or SSRI's, then they start upon a path that leads (99 out of 100 times) to greater despair, soul crushing mental and physical addiction with equally horrific withdrawals...there IS NO UPSIDE to psychotropics. Read "Anatomy of an Epidemic".
