selfstruggles

I'm ready to let it drift off and say I finished
My mind and heart are in a constant war
I can't ask why
Because I don't have an answer.
You just stood and stared
While I fell and prayed
Why are you just watching
When you can act.
Are you with me
Are you against me
Are you lying to me
Are you being honest with me?
You want me gone
You want me here
You want me with you
You want me to fall.
You want me to fall
Just to rewire me
Make me your robot
Is it for the right reason?
My heart tells me no
My brain tells me yes
My voice tells me no
My body tells me yes.
My happiness has drifted away
Just like you let yourself
You've jumped 20 feet ahead
While I stayed back.
I can't be there
And be here
I need you to walk back
Or keep walking.

I like the poem up until the end, and at that point it's not that I dislike it, but the last two stanzas lose and confuse me. I don't understand what it means for the person to leap 20 feet ahead, and I just realized in the midst of writing this sentence that the last stanza is the opinion of both striving to acheive their ideal reality. |
