Waiting

Contributed by NikaShortyyCakeFolsom on Tuesday, 11th March 2014 @ 10:27:15 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

How long had it been since I found you?
How long did I hide my feelings from view?
Watching as other girls played with your heart
Letting them slowly break you apart
Why couldn't I just speak up?
Let you know I was so in love...
But then again it wasn't my place,
to want you here in my embrace
Still there you were, and I wanted you so bad
The feelings inside slowly driving me mad
I should have told you but I was so scared
fighting the fire inside that had flared
God why do I do this to myself?
Why did I hide everything I felt?
How foolish I was to hide it all away
I should have known that you would stay
I should have known that you would understand
Should have known it was your name that was written in the sand
But not to worry for I have you now,
And I'll stay for as long as you'll allow

Ah, the torment of love for those around us. We don't speak up, and for what? Fear of rejection? Insecurities? If with simple confidence we could override them, it would make our lives so much easier.

(Is this poem a fictional story or a life story? If it's a life story, I can actually offer personal opinion of this, were you to care to hear it. In which case you could message me. It might be a little while for I don't frequent this site like I used to.)

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
