A young single mom trying to make a living,
Standing on the corner of abandoned and forsaken…
Doing her best to conceal the scars,
So she can still look pretty to them…

She feels the coolness of the air surrounding her,
Her soul demands to be warmed…
She eagerly anticipates the arrival of heat
That comes only when she does her job well…

Tormented by day, momentary relief by night
Bags under her eyes, not a shower in days
Does her best to distract herself and pray
She has the will to die, but popped pills to stay alive…

Wanting to give up,
She takes her daughter with her on the 10 o’clock run.
“I’m tired babe; can you do this for mommy?”
Reluctantly she says yes and a car pulled up beside them.

“How much are you willing to pay?” the mother asked.
“My life” the man replied. “Just to give you this message…”
He opened the door and stretched forth his hands.
The young mother and her daughter walked forward.

“You are loved beyond your imagination or comprehension.”
“I know a Man who could help you.”
“How much is He willing to pay?” the young mother asked.
“His life; ‘You simply have to believe that He died and was resurrected for you.’”
“He is the Hope you long for…”

The three then went on their way to meet up with Redemption free of charge.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
