My New Shirt (Mid-90's)

How proud am I?
Strutting with false bravado-
the hollow cusp of a few thousands...
no closer to real wealth
as my dreams are far away.
Such a peacock I've become!
Long sleeved, fire engine red, mallet at the ready!
My pride no credit to me- Insecurities
pronounced in alarmist colour.
I pray that I have years enough
Behind me,
And the wisdom to face them
that such a shame will seem as nothing-
Merely a vaporous wisp in the evolution of me.
Post-
It is not the wearing wherein is the sin
It is in the wanting; the shame lies therein.

this is interesting, i'm thinking you are thinking of when
you wore that shirt and what life represented then, your
present self sees with new wisdom, which you do
possess, a lovely write,
hugs n' love nessa |
