Waiting for the day I die

Surrounded by strangers, I must face this world alone.
Take on the dangers. Travel the unknown.
Reaching for someone who just isn't there.
Hoping for just one person who cares.
Laughing at myself for even trying.
Pity that inside I'm dying.
Worthless, I know this is my only truth.
I just don't seem to have one, single use.
Frightened of life passing me by.
But still waiting for the day I die.

I wrote a long and detailed response to your poem. Then I deleted it. I just want you to know you are not alone, and I am here for you. Just me- not Jesus n' me- or anything other than just me. |

Like screaming for help in a crowd of people who neither notice or care...I felt your haunting words. Poetry is this incredible thing. I say that because, when I was younger, I used to write as other people and other situations and emotions I didn't necessarily feel. I was a 19 year old male writing as a pregnant teen about to abort her child or a married man fearing telling his wife that he's cheated or...whatever. The point is: I love the creativity of poetry but sometimes, I felt bad because it's such an emotionally raw and honest art form that I felt dishonest sometimes, writing these poems from the perspective of other people. I love creativity. I am so sorry you feel that no one cares, but know that someone out there does. I've never met you, but you are a fellow traveler on this great planet. There for I love you. Find that which makes you happy and focus on that, and that alone. You are very creative and talented!!! Thanks for sharing! |
