Life

To sit and listen
While somebody speaks of your past to a crowd
One entity stacking atop the other
To make the tower of life.

Hence to recite your life
So much as write of it
Is a much heavier entity
Stronger than the force of gravity.

The past haunts us
The past guides us
The past teaches us
The past laughs at us..

The future holds the gun
The past holds the knife
You can be brave
Or you can be a coward.

Go back
Go forth
But perish, is the motto of life
To stay down.

But we take it
Addicted to the pain we cause ourselves
Pain is the candy of life
And all have a sweet tooth.

The future is a blind death
The present is an uncertain ghost
The past is your best friend
Or the past is your darkest nightmare.

the past...the past....the future...the future......What about the NOW?
You cleverly write, "One entity stacking atop the other
To make the tower of life.".

It is my feeling that if we stack up a pile of 'NOWS"...enjoyment of the NOW...this pile of NOWs will actually become your Past...then the past has no teeth to bite, because it is an accumulation of precious moments composed of a pile of NOWS.

I enjoyed your p[piece, my friend. Keep sharing.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
