Beauty's Mark

Contributed by Jigget on Sunday, 2nd March 2014 @ 06:52:10 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

narrow escape,
bone-marrow scrape
tentative, hesitate to....wait
back off, back off track-mark
get set
get back
get mad
madness; warm
had this torn-up, ripped and formless scorn.
well-worn.
custom discomfort,
but it FITS...it looks GOOD.
it sits right there,
overlooking what's understood.

Bastard burnt by broken brain,
bent backwards by Beauty's Bane.
Beauty's Mark brought back
brought back the Back Off,
brought back the back off track---mark
get set
get settled
get sent...Unbent.
not meant to repent...alone.
atone.
ungrown used to Abuse's Noose and Toothless Truths
that Nail your Lying Little Life
as the Last of the Love and the Light
looks back and Laughs after Laugh...
After Laughter.

Hello. I read this seven times. I know poetry can mean many things to many people. Where one might see peonies in description of a field of colour, another might see a mass grave cover... in this piece you have shared, (While I'm admitting that DISCERNING the author's intent is not always the primary goal of any reading; many times, simply enjoying the flow , or clever employment of words is quite simply enough), I can't help but feel this poem is related to drug abuse in some fashion. Having been a drug addict (as I always will be, though not a practising one for decades), I see beauty and pain....the abuse of certain types of drugs can lend itself equally to both, (though pain is always the victor in the end).

If not a bother, and I'm I pry not to deeply, could you share with me the interpretation of this wonderful, insightful, invoking, emotional offer to the world? If not the world, then lil' old me? mike at bidocean.biz

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
