Some People

Contributed by dvtpdw on Friday, 28th February 2014 @ 01:57:42 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Some people live a world they've conceived
Its walls built on souls of others deceived
Their battle cry consists of me, myself and I
They cannot see reality in their darkened sky

Passing through days like ghostly shrieks
Leaving a trail in their wake that reeks
A stagnant odor of cold hearted hate
The only view their perceived golden fate

Some people feel truth in reality's bite
Ignoring what's hidden behind the trite
Creeping along life's path at a sodden rate
Hearts left open by entering love's gate

Some people with souls of pure white light
Are often blinded by another's dark night
Ever trudging forward with an open hand
Never flinching as evil burns its brand

Some people must have others to control
Wanting to consume them, heart and soul
They destroy with no thought or concern
Some people stubbornly refuse to learn

But some people have a hidden reserve
Waiting to reveal that they don't deserve
What some people pass as love's sweet token
Some people wake up and survive unbroken

Strength comes when hope makes its decision
Hearts mend when eyes develop clear vision
Souls sing out when the veil is finally lifted
Some people chose to live life as God has gifted

We are a strange race, such a mishmash of personalities, wants, desires, dreams, hopes.
I like the way this reminded me that society is one big melting pot.
Some people we are drawn too, some we positively despise, but all add to the tapestry of life.
Nice write

Steve

this is the real deal... not a race
not it, can't find what you're ever looking for, can not be satisfied, no lofty goal to share with all the rest... apathy is far too easily shared.
we know when we are snarks, the possessive klunky description of I, over any consideration
of those who have the least. Even the poorest amongst us are often bent in such a way as to quickly turn away from empathy and find ways to hate, as if they lost their soul to take whateverislefttotake.
You say it much better than me in, "strength comes when hope makes its decision"!
Use religion to teach not to rule, I like Robot -
" the character Bender in Futurama...
Peace!
