in golden years
I sought the road, and all
the good things on it,
faced the dark uncertainties
and sacrificed upon it
but I’m older now, and
long behind, are all the
hungers so inclined;
those wild oats are sown
—I just want to find home
the places lived are all but gone,
pearls of jumbled memories
the pathway back too overgrown,
just shadows now, and vagaries
I know I craved adventure in
a world I chose to roam,
but I’m tired and I’m lonely, and
just want to find home.

Wherever we go, for whatever reason, we still need a place to call home, where we feel wanted and want to be. The feeling of loneliness is strong in your poem, but I hope not too much regret. Well written, and connects to the reader from the first line. Very suitable photo. |

There is a real depth of thought here, so powerfully displayed.
A wealth of emotion in a short space, that's the quality of your work.
It is very reassuring to know that whenever I choose to read what you write I'll know it has been worthwhile taking the time.
Great stuff

As the old saying goes .... 'the only thing in life
that's free is fresh air' - the rest is trial and error,
wandering, wondering, pondering, learning,
invention, re-invention, accepting, changing,
regretting, laughing, crying, loving, and perhaps
at the end of it all.... satisfaction. It's all here
in your poem.
