I don't like what you've done to me; I hate what you've done to me.
How you've treated me over the years.
You've brought me down, bribed me with possessions I could get from anywhere and from anyone.
You've done NOTHING to save the son you lost years ago.
It's funny what I've seen; what I've done.
You've done NOTHING to help any people of the sort.
You must change the world your-self, you must change yourself with others.
If you leave others to be crushed under the weight of the world, you will be left by yourself to face everything; the pain, the loss, the memories..
I face the world with a crowd of allies, following me.
They need not follow me, they do because I helped them and pushed the world back up.
I'm like a general with an army of few, but I do not wage war, I continue my deeds
All while the people of the world lose the fight with their inner darkness
All because YOU do not wish to help, you want not be involved.
The lost lose something they wanted to let drift off.
The miserable bear the burden of famine for the long lost happiness.
The forgotten try to cloak themselves with the rest of society whilst obtaining their unknown reputation with them self.
The happy take their steps without realizing they could join one of the factions in a heart-beat.
There is no such thing as true happiness.
There is no such thing as happiness, only the filling of emotions that become worn over the years.
We create ourselves.
We develop ourselves.
And we destroy ourselves.

Wondered a lot what the title would mean in this poem. Sometimes I look at a title and think quite a bit about what it might register to mean if anything. Sometimes titles are meaning neutral, sometimes they are juxtapose to the body of the poem by accident or by design.
This one to me, the body of the poem that is, rings true to its title, although I didn't imagine it from the title.
There is joy, intrinsically, even all around, yet it's consistently squashed or squandered. sometimes we want only direction too much, most times it's the wrong direction taken, by us - the obedient ones.
Wonder stuff!
Peace! |
