To Live Like This

Contributed by unknown_utopia on Monday, 17th February 2014 @ 12:01:23 AM in AEST
Topic: insomniac

If I don't say what's on my mind
how will
these silent screams get released?
I'm starting to feel that sensation
that slowly overwhelms me
when it's time to flow
and let a deep Innervision free.

Staying awake all night
because the whispering voices won't let me sleep
making me manic
and pulling me into the madness
when in reality there is nothing here to fear.
In the shadows depression lurks
waiting for me
to give up and fall
as my search for reasons to exist remain unclear.

I have some questions that need answering
what am I doing in this place
where am I suppose to go
when the destination is unknown,
to live like this
takes away everything
can anyone see me as I slowly fade away.

This poem reminds me of my nights..and my life. During the day things sort of just go by without me thinking about them. The night is a sacred time for reflection.

If you don't let those inner demons out, they will consume you. Poetry is your outlet. Keep at it.

I definitely relate to this. this line especially resonated with me:

to live like this
takes away everything

so very, very true. well written. your pain is palpable.

Insomnia is like a tiny slice of hell. Or maybe it is all those nagging doubts and thoughts that are keeping us up, maybe that is the real slice of hell. You seem to have harnessed in that disquiet though and turned it into something others can connect with. Sometimes the best way to help ourselves is by helping others.

Staying awake all night
because the whispering voices won't let me sleep

I have been there many times too: I have to say: the voices scare the crap out of me.
Hope you know how to deal with them better than I do.

All the best,
Davinah
