The Root of All Evil

Contributed by Jyssvw22 on Tuesday, 21st January 2014 @ 07:31:05 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Desperation
Something to hang on to
I breathe in
I cough out
Words are irrelevant
When the object of affection
Eludes your desire
Confused
You continue to admire
A ghostly beauty
Never really there
In transparent visions
She stares
Her eyes big brown and opened
Filled with possibilities
The while world for out taking
There was no mistaking
She had the key
To the doors of eternity

Time has elapsed
Significant space has untapped
The potential to trap
In your perpetual relapse
I give you no second thoughts
The first ones hurt
In the days coming forth
And in those that passed
A complete image emerges
You were not destined to last
Failed on initiation
Weighed down by manipulation
Had me where you needed me
Punched as you bleeded me
Dry, nothing left
Money gone
My home torn
My souls wrenched
Oh god
Give me the strength
To put aside
The immense
Pressure of being something that was never my intent
It is felt
In the way you held my hand
Slipping away
Tips of fingers making their last stand
As we swing separately
Feet buried in distant sands
Prescribe beaches
Bordering foreign lands
Bark a command
And despite how much I can't stand
your guts
youur nuts
I would drop everything and run into your deceitful hands

Have we all someone in our lives like this?
I can relate..long ago.
Addiction to a person..worse than drugs.
so well said "and run to your deceitful hands"..
Thanks for reminding me to stay away from that kind of attraction…!!

What a beautiful outpouring of raw emotion, and hurts endured. This reads like a chapter in an intense book. The kind that mesmerizes right from the start. You don't want it to end, even though sometimes it rings home so true that you have to look away. Clever word play to express yourself.
I very much enjoyed the read!

Most excellent....a stab (and home run) at a niche' of addiction not often addressed. You're a damn fine poet!
