A woman is crying somewhere

Topic: Lifepoems

A woman is crying somewhere…
There’s a woman crying somewhere over there
And the only thing she can offer her child is pure love and care
The woman slowly lifts her hand from the baby’s breasts as it barks
And the tears on her cheeks dry away leaving permanent marks
I don’t know this woman
But she is somewhere over there
Over there in the dark and I am here
My child is crying and pleading for more ice cream and cake
But I keep telling my child to eat the roasted steak
I sing lullabies of nursery rhymes to my child to bed each night
And I always leave on the “Winnie-the-Pooh” baby lights
Sometimes I wish I had more, but I always forget to thank God enough
Because, for me, at the end of the day, my life would be nothing without money, and it’s glorious love
A woman is crying somewhere over there
At night I listen to her cry, and I can almost swear
I understand why she cries, but my knowledge of her life is just a tale of lies
And she screams through my ear but the words pierce through me too clear
I start to feel her pain as her baby is in pain, and has been in pain for the past 12 weeks
And as I close my eyes at night I see her child in pain, colored with fear, red at eyes and cheeks
Today my child and I went to daycare to put little Tommy to class
I kiss my son on his cheeks, now red with lipstick and give him lunch money for a first-day-pass
A woman is crying somewhere
A woman is crying somewhere over there
And nowadays, her pain is becoming a part of mine
And more than ever now I seem that people don’t actually care
I know this woman is hungry, for her stomach aches on to me
But my aching is nothing compared to her anxiety for her baby’s agony
And as her child suffers
I’m imagining it was mine, and I am as scared as hell
As I turn to faces, they just turn right round and act like they can’t tell
A woman is crying somewhere
A woman is crying somewhere over there
I want to tell her that I care

the act of becoming involved in other people's lives is
more and more rare, its not my place to tell you what
to do, but i would try to be of help, even if i was scared
it could be done anonymously, even if i had little
something might be better than nothing, ...i do love
your poem as it is written sooo beautifully- i am very
moved, your realistic matter of fact style is quite impressive,

hugs n' love nessa
