Nostalgic

Young and pretty;
Smart and gritty!
She’s no lady of the city!
(Needs no paint to make her pretty!)
A country girl who loves her leather,
Lightning storms and summer weather;
We’ve shared walks and memories
of winding roads and autumn trees.
Huddled from the pouring rain;
In the sweet straw we have lain.
Still she mocks me every day;
And makes it clear she will not stay!
She’s my freedom-loving dancer,
You can call, but she won’t answer!
Toss her head and turn her shoulder;
Lucky YOU to get to hold her!
Swings her hips and walks away:
You’ve nothing that she wants today!
But I have sweets with which to bid her;
Knowing she will reconsider!
“I brought gifts, “Oh, Baby, please..”
(Begging now, I’m on my knees).
Warm and steamy, she approaches,
stealthily my space encroaches,
Brush my cheek with velvet lips,
Nudge me with a swaying hip;
I feel her breathing soft upon me; lovely Ladyfair!
She lets me slip her bridal on, astride her body bare,
we'll ride across our meadow, and on to who knows where.

This is awesome! I love being caught off-guard with an ending. Not only does this flow very smoothly, it is delivered with a sly, tongue-in-cheek style that seems to befit this lovely horse. Very well done!!

softerware, hello, my friend. How nice to read this on a fine sunny morning. Soft and embracing...got my 'tender groove' flowing, then- BAM! "Still she mocks me every day; And makes it clear she will not stay!"
Needle up, groove gone. Cool! the shake-up is a jolt and I like jolts...life is a turning record more than it should be, so why not jiggle the needle, eh?
The balance of the piece brought to mind a most excellent rendition of a Willie Nelson song, "She's not for you". While for the most part I prefer the original artist to any cover attempt, in this song, performed by the cover artist, he elevates the song beyond Willie's original. It encapsulates your beautiful poem in essence. I hope you listen to it. Link below.
Thank you for your fine contribution to the poetic collective. I've come to incorporate my morning routine with a visit to YPDC as requisite to starting my day. I look for you and four or five other artists, and spend a little more time gem hunting amongst the rocks.
Blessings,
Invierno
