FRANCIS CRICK NEUROTHEOLOGY , PLEASE RESPOND

Contributed by alicewhite on Tuesday, 31st December 2013 @ 01:23:31 PM in AEST
Topic: poets

After writing my previous poem I searched for places in Northamptonshire England to study NEUROTHEOLOGY
and if Wikipedia is to be believed then what resulted from this search is somewhat coincidental and totally unexpected,
the name FRANCIS CRICK NEUROTHEOLOGY AND NORTHAMPTON came up trumps and linked to Wikipedia page about the fore mentioned FRANCIS CRICK ,
apparently he was born and raised just down the road from where I was born and raised , not even half a mile away by chance, he was an English molecular biologist, biophysicist, and neuroscientist, most noted for being a co-discoverer of the structure of the DNA molecule in 1953 with James Watson. He, Watson, and Maurice Wilkins were jointly awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine "for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material".

Apparently in the 1980s, Crick was able to devote his full attention to his other interest, consciousness. His autobiographical book, What Mad Pursuit: A Personal View of Scientific Discovery, includes a description of why he left molecular biology and switched to neuroscience.

Upon taking up work in theoretical neuroscience, Crick was struck by several things:
there were many isolated subdisciplines within neuroscience with little contact between them
many people who were interested in behavior treated the brain as a black box
consciousness was viewed as a taboo subject by many neurobiologists

Crick hoped he might aid progress in neuroscience by promoting constructive interactions between specialists from the many different subdisciplines concerned with consciousness. He even collaborated with neurophilosophers

AGAIN coincidentally my previous poem describes my brain as a BLACK BOX , strange ? I find it curious and more curious,
this synchronicity leads me to believe more and more that I am on to something profound and it should be followed fully.

Please investigate and relay to me you perspectives , I shall surely appreciate all fully.

I have no opinion or perspective on this topic as possibly neither does anyone else. However, my suggestion is to learn how to use the site's forums.

Please click here for General Discussions [www.your-poetry.com]

In my opinion, this reads more like an article for discussion rather than a poem. I do know for a fact that some members do not want to see this on the poetry pages and may be more likely to reply if it was offered as a topic for discussion in the forums.

If you're looking for attention there are more subtle ways to find it. There are sections of the site that are more suited for certain uses. Forums and private messages, for instance. Stick to writing poetry on the poetry pages.

Just my twelve cents (inflation, ya know). wink photo cid_20464F9289AB441CB8AAF7967356146.gif

Thank you,

Tim

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
