my mistress in a honey color gown

Contributed by socialmisfit on Monday, 30th December 2013 @ 01:17:09 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

there is a catch
always
at the start of every stumble
when i feel nothing but desire
a subtle gasp
as i grasp
and my grip tightens around your neck
embracing that storm
that roils beneath the surface
undulating within my blood
i hear you
speaking in tongues
beneath my skin
coaxing my own voice
to free and bolden
searing a path along every nerve
you beg to be freed
such intensity
so i drown within the tempest
of you
willingly

But I don't even own a honey coloured gown... ;) Sorry, I couldn't resist. There is so much "YES!" in this poem- wow! I instantly fell in love with line after line. Your voice is so present. It is with great difficulty that I chose these lines as the ones that truly grabbed me. This poem in its entirety is perfection.

i hear you
speaking in tongues
beneath my skin
coaxing my own voice
to free and bolden
searing a path along every nerve

Exquisite!

Y/'/know, I have found time and again when I re-read an older poem I previously commented on, I often gain a fresh (and sometimes altogether different perspective). This is one of those times...Hmm. I dunno, but with a couple of years more clarity under my belt I am seeing what I missed the first time around...This poem is a love affair with the bottle. That honey-coloured addiction that calls out to many.

I feel both dumb that I missed what is so obvious to me now, and I also feel empowered that I caught the subtle struggle you laid out.

Of course I could be wrong...there/'/s room for that theory. :P
