Author starting first page;
Pages flipping, story changing,
Pictures scream out life.
The open book has ambition
For a great end; goal found
And then sought out.
On page one-hundred: lightning
Is a major change. Then,
The settled landscape
Is an easy routine.
Page four-fifty: too many paths
Sprout from where I stand.
I hope I can say
I took the better one
In the end.
But now, the end is
Not in sight; not even
To author's eyes.
The open book keeps
On changing, and who,
Indeed, can tell when it ends?
