A need to justify his riding gave
Don Jose Sor a troubled moment's grief.
For wife had wanted husband Jose brave
sedately making ride back rather brief.

Don Hernandez hoped to clarify the point with his wife. "Bravo's a
wonderful animal, Rose. He answers quickly to the touch of reign and
spur. I felt very much at ease on him." "You don't often sit an unknown
horse, Jose. I was worried about you. Couldn't you have been content
to ride and not show off?" "No senora, I'm their Alcalde. Could I do
less? It was expected of me." Diego Silva spoke. " Excellency, from
what my patron tells me, Bravo will never be as well ridden again."
Diego's remark pleased Huerra. He spoke to his Excellency. "Segundo's
the best horse trainer in all of California, Excellency. I wish I could
persuade him to sell me Bravo, but he won't. He's trained my sorrel.
so I suppose I should be content with that. It's a good second."
Don Hernandez stroked his white goatee in thought, eyes twinkling.
"Diego Silva," he spoke in jest, "what will it take to have you come work
for me? I'll double anything Don Huerra pays you." "Patron gives me
good beans, Excellency. I have a roof over my head most of the time
and he lets me curse. Could I do better here?"

These are all so good but they are more booklike than poems. I would love to see them in book form. It would definitely make for a great read!!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
