Running through my mind like a burning flame.
Teasing and taunting always playing this game.
A needle of poison inviting me in.
Just one game I'll never win.
Continuing to chase that very first high.
But in the end, asking myself why?
This monster that chases me in my dreams.
Not at first what it may seem.
Reeling me in till its what i crave.
Pulling me down right to my grave.

Your last line is my favorite. How right you are.
A day at a time is all that can be done to win.
It's been years since i used any kind of drug, but my being still teases me with wanting.
Nothing feels as good as being able to say "no".
Keep writing!
