Silence Friend

Contributed by deusdeira on Tuesday, 12th November 2013 @ 07:59:46 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Sit my friend and ponder this,
why do words caress your lips?

such frivolous and thoughtless things,
were they a beast... that I could tame,

it would sit upon my head,
filling me with needless dread,

so please my friend... resist... decease,
and I will mourn such sweet release.

Nicely written.

I've learned when one speaks that they only repeat what has been said. But when one stops and listens, they learn...

Great poem.

I want them to stop talking, too, sometimes but that's because I don't necessarily like them. You're being nicer than me.

I liked reading this poem...read it a few times. Nicely done. Thank you.

Tim

I know what you mean - they go on and on and on and never stop talking and blabbing and flapping their lips and... (oops).

you can be grumpy and I will be taciturn, and enjoy your sweet rebuke once again...

You've now made me think of one such person I know that talks non stop, regardless of whether anyone is listening or not.
Some people make themselves hard to ignore and you just want to put a fishbowl over their head to drown out the noise.
There's a thought!!!

Steve

I can completely relate to this! There is a song which has a line, 'everybody's talking at me I can't hear a word they say only the echos in my mind. Great poem and an empathic release for most of us x

Sometimes I feel like that too. Sometimes it feels like some people chatter seemingly about nothing - & when you're grumpy, silence is golden.

I liked it - it was great.

This is very funny!
Hits home…we all know someone like this!
If we put all of them in one room, and made them hold hands, we could probably light Cincinnatti for a month!

Makes me wonder what they do when they're alone?? Guess that's why mirrors are so popular, ya think?

I like the idea of the ellipses being moments where the person is still talking and you're waiting to finish your thought.

Also I don't understand the taming beasts idea. :o

This deserves to be written in gold. Whoever speaks often, errs often. I wish that I were stoic
