The land of Nothing( Poem for America)

Contributed by ScribereHabeo on Monday, 4th November 2013 @ 05:17:02 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

The homeland
Mountains so tall
The giving hand
I think it's worth it to know
The story of a place called home

We were all newcomers in the beginning
Our minds full of new ideas for a new start
Living our lives happily
Maybe even grinning

We weren't alone on our new home
The people of nature
We attacked, hunted, the whole land we comb
For what reason I'm not sure

We were happy with what we had done
But still our "Freedom" we hadn't won
Our motherland mistreated us
Now we knew what to do
Didn't even need to discuss
We fought death with Rebellion
We stood up to tyranny
Now we made the sounds of a free people
Free to make ourselves what we want to be
Free to be whoever, free to be me.....

Now we are nothing
A land filled with nothing
No one to care for nothing
No one to cry for nothing
Now we are nothing
Nothing but empty
Maybe that's what we were to begin with
Maybe we weren't meant to be filled

Maybe we weren't meant to be free.......

You show the insecurity and doubt that I'm sure many young American's must be feeling. But never doubt the sacrifice of the young men of America. They died on the beaches of Guadalcanal, Normandy, the skies over Midway Island, and everywhere else where tyranny raised its ugly head. The world would be a very black place without that sacrifice, believe me.
Times move on, so never stop questioning your politicians. Some would make your founding fathers turn in their graves.
Passionate write that touched me.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
