Tattoo

Tattoo

Today it seams everyone has one
They are a young persons rites of passage
From child to adult
The belonging to a tribe and posturing begins
Self confidence and pea-cocking

From wallflower to princess
From geek to sleeved poser
From zero to biker clone
Tattoos change a person

Sometimes I yearn for ink
To get a tattoo or two
But then I think
It's permanent, you can't take it off
It's not like a hat
I'll just look at yours, and keep my skin bare

:) I totally relate & agree. I don't have any tattoos either. I have, however, considered one but like you say, they're permanent. If I get tired of a hat, yeah, just quit wearing it. Not so easy with a tattoo.

Nicely done.

Thanks,

Tim

entertaining post, thoughtful and well structured.

From one cleanskin to another, I understand the attraction as well as the reluctance to get one. Apparently the younger Jewish gen in Israel are getting the concentration camp ID numbers of their grandparents tattooed on their arms, as a reminder and tribute - its causing quite a stir, particularly among the Holocaust survivors still alive to see the generational transition.

This was a subject I was thinking of tackling myself, but it seems you beat me to it.
I've often wondered what the current obsession is with tattoo's and have never desired to get one myself.
Like you say, some are very creative and can be admired.......but they are indelible. I wouldn't want to wake up one day and think
"What possessed me to do this?"
I suppose for now the craze will remain, till another takes it's place.

Steve
