I am adept at producing a sponge
And wiping out the rounded cavities of my skull
Until every offending particle of sentient matter
Has been obliterated.
I have become so proficient in this exercise
That the one who used to thrive amongst
The rosy creases of my brain
And his naïve certainty that our caresses
And late- night conversations would always last -
Well
I have demolished this so thoroughly
That the gritty particles of our bygone love
Whirl, disoriented, amongst the cosmic dust
In a galactic bacchanal.
They are too small even for the black holes
To make disappear.
