Why is it that
my inspiration only comes
after the sun has set,
the moon shows her face,
and the stars smile on my paper?
Why can't I write during the day?
What is the allure of the night,
that makes it so appealing?
Inspiration does not come by thought,
rather by remembering
things that came my way during the day.
Ideas are from nature,
other writers,
songs,
and you,
you are in my poems too.
Your perfection I try to emulate.
I translate every part of your being,
every glance, every breath,
your words and actions,
your whole self,
even what you perceive through your senses
and blend all those feelings and observations
into sentences.
I hope that one day
you will recognize yourself
in a poem about flowers
or the first snow of the year.
That you never will
is my greatest fear.

This is an absolutely beautiful poem and I relate to it a lot. As of I late I seem to have little inspiration but when I did, it seems it came more at night and from certain someones and reading.
Great poem.
Thank you for a very enjoyable poem and to YPDC.
Tim
