a smile if frazzled by a tear
that whispers "why are you still here"
another tear comes down the side
"it’s over, time for you to hide"
the smile is standing holding strong
she’s wondering why, what went wrong
the face now starts to break in half
a moan is heard, and then a laugh
he’s called a schizophrenic freak
cause he’s a mix of strong and weak
the smile is stretching ear to ear
"let’s drown her" shouts an angry tear
the smile is chocking yet resists
the face still breaking, now it splits
one side, the smile managed to stay
the other, tears just pour away
the question now is who to be
cause all i want is to be me

I really like this because it hits on a very difficult topic... The brain center, and the inability to understand how to diffuse what delusions are, when they are inside ones thought.
It's a scary topic indeed/ because it's an awful disease, hard to contain or talk about, especially for the sufferer. I read an interesting article in the New Yorker a couple weeks back, it mentioned delusions of grandeur, and how back in the early nineteenth century in France, there were many sufferer's of schizophrenia, held in prison- like conditions away from the public view and against their will, who thought they were literally Napoleon Bonaparte - cognitively, this delusion could make sense back then, as he had a large enough impact in reality back then in France for everyone --- hence, it was an easy enough delusion to have if you're delusional.
Anyway, there is some hope. It's a combination of some drugs, but also required is some real psychotherapy.
The drugs themselves can be harmful if they are not regulated very carefully, and the therapy is extremely useful and it helps cognitively. Eventually, the drugs can be reduced quite a bit, and the sufferer can often find an escape, into themselves and reality. Keep writing!
Peace!
