COMETH THE REAPER

COMETH THE REAPER

When one realizes they may not see spring again they recall the years past in a different light.
The troubled moments become dulled and the bright occasions reflected on and again experienced.
Realization of years passing with wishes, hopes and dreams often cause on reflection that many were sadly wasted.
The day, month, year in aging thought now brings insight and acknowledges that time is no longer simply slipping but rampantly racing by in all directions. There is no path marked with anything but health and the today.
Tomorrow and tomorrows are a future sadly often no longer with plan or purpose.
A day now becomes or should, a celebration of existence and life.
Life not of existing, but of participating ...in life.
Mundane? The practical, and ordinary, transitory, ephemeral and commonplace are to be appreciated.
They are often the reality, constrained and held hostage by arthritic bounds and health.
Aged? The minute passing need be gleaned for sustenance before the reaper.
The day is opportunity for the month and year are but a lottery with your ticket paid for but not yet punched.
Opportunity is tempered by reality, by ability by fact.
But it, opportunity should not now be denied or ignored or evaded or avoided.
Grasp and hold to that which might be offered or occasioned, for it may not come again.

Very well written. I enjoyed this write. It pertains to many a person in life indeed. As we grow older, one does reflect on life as he or she lived it and how they will continue living it. if and when your life is given a number so-to-speak, a medical problem and or other means to end life sooner then one expected, its a way to reflect more so and really maintain those memories onced lived and shared. Our ticket can be punched anytime, unexpectly of course, living for the now, the real life experiences of now, yes the mudane, and existing life of now, but one can really cherish it, as we only a very short time on earth, and sometimes we forget how blessed and cherished life is, and how we can try to maintain what we have the best we can by sharing and living it with others. Thanks for write, puts in perspective a great deal of thought. ( I havent written in quite some time, but my thoughts are quite active, I just do not have the time anymore. I married and now my husband has become disabled, we each have health issues, but try to maintain life as we can. I do miss such well thought writes indeed. Rose :)

Thanks Rose. This has been our annus horribilis - with the deaths of several close and relative followed closely by my pet dog, Peeves.

Such has caused much reflection on mortality. I appreciate your comments.
