I dreamt I held the rose,
The rose of one lifetime.
where children play
with shadowed mimes
I dreamt the rose was given me,
by faceless silhouette's,
out from a place of hatred
from the throne,
where Satan sets.
And I could see shadows
calling on my name
promising a world of lust
a world of instant fame.
and all got deathly quiet,
and I heard my name chose,
and I could see my lifeless temple
Holding a black rose

Wow, quite symbolic, most especially for a young person to write. You must of known the black rose didn't exist in real life. Death, or decay of human bone, skin, or a once living animal is what it symbolizes. The black plant life that lives in the form of a tree bark, or a Prunus serotina (black cherry), the Padus, Characterized by having deciduous leaves. Where deciduous means falling off at maturity.
You make me think a lot here. Writings from a young person are extremely memorable indeed.
Well done!
Peace!

Emotions and imagination are so strong in teenage and this is a great poem to reflect that. Strong vivid imagery and a mixing pot of emotions so easily accessed by teen years with an overall openness not yet closed by cynicism. |
