Everybody is a poet

Contributed by TheDreamer on Sunday, 11th August 2013 @ 10:00:42 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Everybody is a poet when the moon comes out,
Thoughts start to illuminate when the sun goes down,
For some its a joyful past time,
For others it cures a heavy frown,
Addictive adjectives,
A fluent sound,
The describing of a word,
The beauty of a noun.

Everybody is an activist when a tradgedy happens,
The bad brings out the good for a couple of hours,
Fantasize about what would happen if we were in control,
If we yielded all the powers,
Temporary activists only care what's on the news,
Blind to the real world of darkness,
The don't see the real blues.

Everybody is a critic,
Yet no one cares,
Only watching others,
Rather than our own affairs,
But I guess you don't have to watch your back,
Because someone else will,
We poke holes at others despite having our own to fill.

Everything happens for a reason,
That's what they say,
Or is that just a phrase we use,
To try and make the pain go away.

A great concept, this poem. I think there is so much more to be done to it. Points raised can stand alone as poems to be written.

The syntax is a little weak in places, and it has a disjointed flow at times, but the concept and points do indeed overshadow this picky observation of mine.

I like your work. If I didn't I would say nothing of the sort. I am not prone to gushing and platitudes...they are a drain on my spirit (as disingenuous actions tend to be), and I denigrate and falsely prop a writer in so doing. SO....well done and keep it up. I'm gonna keep looking at your writing, as it's a pleasure to read, from a thought process standpoint more so (at this juncture) than a true appreciation for a masterful grasp of what poop-heads would call 'correct' poetry. I personally don't think there is such a thing as 'correct' poetry (indeed, just look at your title!). think of e.e. cummings. He is revered for his in abandonment of convention.

Rock on Dreamer!
