Collision

Contributed by Loende on Thursday, 8th August 2013 @ 01:44:23 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I’m not even sure that it’s a choice, this slow-motion collision,
a chemical reaction between the shadows, beyond the mind
when the pure and brilliant measure of a man’s heart is wrought

where certainty and desire are set upon each other, mythic and gothic
each with a yearning hunger for blood, to be the sole survivor
yet even the winner will be wounded and weary

but if it’s not a choice, if there is no stopping it,
then why does it surprise us that they fight this right of passage?
the heart, they say, lies, yet still it serves as a compass

in the end, one will triumph, come heaven or hell or worse.
either what he desperately wants or what they have planned for him
reality, after all, cannot be outrun forever

They say the heart lies? Hmmmm...I dunno.

Can't say I completely understand this but of course like it, nonetheless.

I particularly like that last line a lot!

Long time no see, Dawnie Dawn and glad to see you posting again!

Luff,

Timmers

Nicely written!

Dilemma between the mind and heart....[until now I still get confused which one to follow] :-/

What an emotional, truthful write. So great yet so sad.

"yet even the winner will be wounded and weary"

There is more truth in that one line than in any other piece I've had
faith in reading. Without even missing a beat, lovely.

There is depth of emotion here that only the choice can feel. There
is also damage here that pours down the page and into every
syllable. But somehow, it is the kind of damage, you strongly
desire to embrace. You have been dearly missed, love.

This.

Is.

Wondrous!

Yes, there is no escaping that collision with fate. Does the heart lie? Or does it mislead? Sometimes it can be difficult to tell. The fallout can be catastrophic, but the rewards are endless.

Beautiful expression Dawn.
