The Statues

I was intruding on something
Older, richer.
The left-over marble had been cleaned,
But their footsteps were there,
I'm sure.
The old statues looked at me
As if I was not
The one.
There's a story behind the
Walls, beneath the ruin;
Forgotten.
How dare I walk on
Their story;
Lose it, distort it.
And I hear them talking in
The next room; and I'm
Not the One.

This is very good. It's kind of confusing, but confusing is good. |
